Prevention Education at White County Middle School
Rape Response continues to offer its award winning Date Rape Curriculum, which was developed by the agency and community educators to be an interactive, interesting program for 8th grade middle-school students. Heather Weaver has been teaching the curriculum for three years throughout the agency's five-county service area to students with parental permission. Heather shares, "I go into the classroom with factual information. I present Georgia Laws on the crime of rape. We are able to discuss the misconceptions and myths of sexual assault. For example, the kids seem amazed to find out that the assault is not usually commited by a stranger. We discuss healthy dating and how to make safe decisions."
