Sexual Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Psychological Intervention Strategies
Dr. House has designed this seminar presentation to help professionals working with sexual trauma survivors develop their knowledge of and competence in the assessment and treatment of traumatic stress. On completion, attendees will be better able to:
Describe the scope and impact of sexual assault and sexual abuse
Identify the symptoms of acute stress disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and be able to assess for the presence of these disorders
List evidence-based practices for crisis intervention and early intervention with traumatic stress
List evidence-based psychotherapies for the treatment of PTSD
Describe in detail the use of Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD
Practice the use of cognitive therapy as used in cognitive processing therapy
Describe modifications of cognitive processing therapy for other populations
Describe an evidence-based trauma-focused therapy for children
