Interested in Volunteering?

Our next Volunteer Training will be held
Winter 2012
(see schedule below, commencing February11th)
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a
volunteer application online and we will contact you.

WHO can Volunteer?
Women who are 18 or older need only have a strong interest in helping people.  No previous education or training is required.

HOW does it Work?
Volunteers are on call at night or on weekends and are free to maintain their own schedules while using a cell phone system to respond to any telephone or hospital emergency call.  Calls to our hotline may be handled by volunteers from the privacy of their own home or other suitable location where privacy can be assured.  Volunteers will respond to hospital calls at one of the two hospitals within our service area that is closest to their home.  The hospitals we serve are Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville and Habersham County Medical Center in Demorest.  We ask only that volunteers be able to get to the hospital within 30 minutes during their scheduled on-call periods.  Monthly schedules are maintained in which volunteers can sign up for the nights or weekends they choose.

WHEN is the Next Volunteer Training?
Our next volunteer training series will begin in mid February 2012 with the following schedule.

Saturday, February 11          8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, February 16                5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, February 23             5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, February 25             8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Potential volunteers must attend all training sessions and a personal interview with the Executive Director.  These sessions will involve a variety of topics and presentations by Rape Response staff and guest speakers, such as law enforcement representatives, medical personnel, attorneys and clinical psychologists.  Meals and refreshments will be provided during the meetings.
Most training sessions will be held at our offices in Gainesville at the North Georgia Community Foundation Building, about a mile from the downtown square.  Directions will be provided for all training locations.
